Help & Setup Guide

Everything you need to get started with Here.

Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have:

A Mac computer (macOS 12 or later)
An iPhone (any model running iOS 16 or later)
A USB cable to connect your iPhone to your Mac (Lightning or USB-C)
Both devices on the same WiFi network (for wireless use after setup)

First-Time Setup

This only needs to be done once. After the initial setup, everything works wirelessly.

Step 1 — Download the companion app

After creating your account, download the companion app from your dashboard. It's a small zip file (under 1MB). Unzip it anywhere on your Mac — your Desktop or Downloads folder works fine.

Step 2 — Open the companion

Double-click the file called Here.command. A Terminal window will open showing the setup progress. If macOS blocks it, go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → click "Open Anyway".

First time opening? macOS may ask "Are you sure you want to open this?" — click Open. It may also ask for your Mac password to start a secure tunnel to your phone.

Step 3 — Plug in your iPhone

Connect your iPhone to your Mac with a USB cable. The companion will detect it automatically. If your phone shows a "Trust This Computer?" popup, tap Trust and enter your passcode.

Step 4 — Enable Developer Mode

The companion will enable Developer Mode on your iPhone. You'll need to do this once:

01On your iPhone, go to Settings
02Tap Privacy & Security
03Scroll to the bottom — tap Developer Mode
04Toggle it ON
05Your phone will restart — this is normal
06After reboot, unlock your phone and confirm Developer Mode
If you don't see "Developer Mode" in your settings, make sure your phone is plugged in and the companion app is running. It will reveal the option automatically.

Step 5 — Enter your Mac password

The companion needs to start a secure tunnel to communicate with your iPhone's developer tools. Enter your Mac login password when prompted. This is stored locally and never leaves your computer.

Step 6 — Keep your phone unlocked

The companion will mount developer tools on your iPhone. Your phone must be unlocked during this step. Once you see all green checkmarks, you're ready.

Step 7 — Open the app on your phone

The companion will show you a URL like http://192.168.x.x:3456/spoof. Open this in Safari on your iPhone. Then tap the Share button (box with arrow) and tap "Add to Home Screen" to install it as an app.

Daily Use

After the first-time setup, here's how to use it day-to-day:

01Double-click Here.command on your Mac
02Wait for all green checkmarks (10–15 seconds)
03Open the Here app on your phone's home screen
04Tap anywhere on the map to drop a pin
05Tap Teleport — your location changes instantly
06Tap Stop to return to your real location
After the first USB setup, your phone connects wirelessly. You don't need to plug it in again — just make sure both devices are on the same WiFi network.

Features

Search any location

Use the search bar at the top of the map to find any city, address, or landmark. Tap a result to drop a pin there.

Tap to pin

Tap anywhere on the map to place your target location. You can tap again to move the pin.

Teleport

Once you've placed a pin, tap the green Teleport button. Your iPhone's GPS will immediately report the new location. All apps on your phone — Maps, Uber, Tinder, Snapchat, Find My — will see the spoofed location.

Stop

Tap the red Stop button to return to your real GPS location. Your phone will resume reporting its actual position.

Troubleshooting

"No device found"

The companion can't see your iPhone.

Make sure your iPhone is plugged in via USB
If asked, tap "Trust This Computer" on your phone
Try a different USB cable — some cables are charge-only
Unplug and replug your phone
Restart the companion (Ctrl+C, then double-click again)

"Tunnel not running"

The secure tunnel to your phone's developer tools has stopped.

Restart the companion — it will recreate the tunnel
Make sure you entered your Mac password correctly
The companion auto-recovers the tunnel every 10 minutes

"Developer tools not available"

The developer image on your phone needs to be remounted.

Unlock your iPhone (keep it on the home screen)
Restart the companion
This happens when your phone locks or restarts

"Unlock your iPhone"

Your phone is locked and can't receive the location change.

Unlock your phone and try again
Keep your phone unlocked while spoofing

Location jumps back to real position

The spoofed location keeps reverting to your real GPS.

Make sure the companion is still running on your Mac
Don't close the Terminal window
The companion keeps the location persistent — if it stops, your phone reverts

Teleport says success but Maps shows real location

The command went through but didn't actually take effect.

Restart the companion completely (Ctrl+C, then reopen)
Make sure the tunnel is active (green checkmark in companion)
Keep your phone unlocked and plugged in during first setup
Try plugging in via USB instead of WiFi

Can't find "Developer Mode" in Settings

Developer Mode doesn't appear in your iPhone settings.

Make sure your phone is plugged into your Mac via USB
Make sure the companion app is running
The companion reveals Developer Mode automatically — restart it if needed
Look under Settings → Privacy & Security (scroll to the very bottom)

macOS says "Here.command can't be opened"

macOS Gatekeeper is blocking the file.

Right-click the file → click Open (instead of double-clicking)
Or go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → click "Open Anyway"

Companion installs things on first run

This is normal. On the first launch, the companion installs Homebrew, Node.js, libimobiledevice, and pymobiledevice3. These are standard open-source tools. This only happens once — subsequent launches start in seconds.

WiFi spoofing doesn't work

Your phone was set up over USB but won't spoof wirelessly.

Both devices must be on the same WiFi network
Plug in via USB once to re-pair, then unplug
Some routers block device-to-device communication — try a different network

Phone shows wrong IP address

The URL shown in the companion doesn't work on your phone.

Make sure both devices are on the same WiFi
If using a VPN, disconnect it on both devices
Try using the IP from your Mac's WiFi settings: System Preferences → Network

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this work with all apps?

Yes. Here changes your actual device GPS coordinates at the system level. Every app on your phone sees the spoofed location — Apple Maps, Google Maps, Uber, Lyft, Tinder, Bumble, Snapchat, Instagram, Find My, Life360, Pokemon Go, and any other location-based app.

Does my Mac need to stay on?

Yes. The companion app on your Mac maintains the spoofed location. If you close it or shut down your Mac, your phone returns to its real GPS position.

Do I need to keep my phone plugged in?

Only for the first-time setup. After that, everything works wirelessly over WiFi. Just make sure both devices are on the same network.

Will Apple detect this?

This uses Apple's own developer tools — the same system that app developers use to test location-based features. It doesn't modify your phone's software or void your warranty.

Can I get banned from apps for using this?

Some apps (like Pokemon Go) have anti-spoofing detection and may flag unusual movement patterns. Use responsibly and avoid teleporting across large distances instantly. Most social and dating apps do not detect location spoofing.

Does this work on Android?

Not currently. Here is designed for iPhone only.

Does this work on iPad?

Yes, if your iPad has cellular/GPS capability (WiFi-only iPads don't have GPS).

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel anytime through Stripe. Your subscription remains active until the end of your billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.

Is my data private?

Yes. The companion app communicates directly between your Mac and your iPhone over USB or local WiFi. No location data passes through our servers. We never see or store where you teleport. See our Privacy Policy for details.
